Meet Litherland Remyca…

Litherland Remyca are a community owned football club that have been established since 1959.

The club started as St Thomas FC in the Seathforth area of Liverpool and mainly recruited locally and from Bootle – changing their name to Bootle Church Lads Brigade and training at the Bootle YMCA.

It was then financed by the REM Social Club and that joint co-operation with the YMCA created REMYCA Utd FC in 1968.

Remyca are now based at Litherland Sports Park and still have strong community links to local councils.  They are in the process of trying to set up a Remyca Community Facility.

The team were promoted to the NWCF Premier Division in 2018 and last season they finished 15th out of 20.

In their first ever appearance in the FA cup they beat AFC Liverpool 2-0 (2017) and that was their best FA Cup run - reaching the Preliminary Round.

Let’s see what Saturday’s game against Avro FC brings (2 sleeps away).

In other good news about the women’s game – the FA have announced that from 2nd September 2019 all WSL games will be streamed live, via a new App that they are launching. This service will be free of charge and it will also include coverage of some Championship games and FA Cup games.

See ya’ll Saturday for the opening round of the men’s FA Cup.
